Spaghetti Squash, Your Ticket To Weight Loss - Low Fat, Low Calorie Vegetable Recipe for Dieters

La, la, la!  It's a dieter's dream!  So go grab your white tablecloth, those tapered candlesticks and your best china.  It's time to feast on spaghetti squash!

Mama Mia!  Spaghetti squash contains a mere 75 calories per cup!  It is indeed, a dieter's dream.  Try our spaghetti squash suggestion below.  It's so low in calories that you can say, "A mor e', please!"  

Though this delicate beauty can be found at your market year-round, its finest hour is Fall through Winter. Check out your local fruit stands in addition to supermarkets, and pick up several different varieties of winter squash to experiment with while you are there.  When seeking a tasty spaghetti squash, look for a firm, delicately yellow-colored product weighing in at about 5-8 pounds.

Although spaghetti squash can be baked, for a fast treat simply cut in half, seed, place in about 1/4 inch of water, cover with plastic wrap then microwave for about 12-15 minutes.   You'll have an immediate source of squash that tastes wickedly close to the noodle, only much healthier and better yet, much trimmer where calories are concerned.

After cooking, the squash will fork loose from the shell.  Be careful - it's one hot potato at this point!  It will resemble (and taste like) spaghetti.

Spaghetti Amore'!!

For a really quick, healthy meal, add 1 cup of your favorite jarred or canned spaghetti sauce to your cooked squash.  Sprinkle with a bit of Parmesan cheese if desired.  Serve with a small wedge of fresh bread.

Call in one violin player, one crystal goblet and one container of sparkling water wedged with lemon.  A howling hound sitting beside the table will set off the authenticity of the faire.  And take heart, this meal is best enjoyed with thy lover or a good friend.  At this point, ditch the howling dog.

Ladies should wear a one-shouldered garment crafted preferably of satin, and Stiletto heels.  Gentlemen should wear pants with a red cummerbund and come shirtless.  A heavy gold chain is suggested to set off the chest.

TIP - If you want to get real fancy smancy, save the spaghetti bowl after you've forked the flesh clean, then return the flesh after combining with the spaghetti sauce.

One squash will serve four people very generously for about 300 calories each - and that includes the spaghetti sauce (based on the 110 per 1/2 cup variety)!  Add additional calories for the bread.

It is also delicious served with no calorie butter spray.  Or, serve it for la dessert by adding a smidgeon of cinnamon, a bit of brown sugar, a dash of nutmeg and a sprinkle of cloves.
