NUTTY SHAKES

Tin Top Shake

Serves 2 for about 115 calories each

1 ½ cups of ice cold skimmed milk
1-3 packets of Splenda or Equal if extra sweetness is desired
1 Tablespoon of chocolate syrup (70 calories worth)
2 Tablespoons of whipped topping
1 TEASPOON of chunky peanut butter (about 50 calories) (2 TABLESPOONS generally = 190 calories for most peanut butters)
2-3 ice cubes

Pour milk into blender or mixing bowl.  Add sweetener, peanut butter and ice cubes.  Blend until frothy.

Pour into chilled glass.  Top with topping.  Drizzle on chocolate syrup.

Diet Shake Tips:

  • A teaspoon of crushed nuts added to the topping after chocolate syrup has been applied lends a nutty burst of flavor to your shake for a minimal amount of calories.
  • Post Grape Nuts cereal substitutes very well in creating a nutty taste in most dishes.  For example, Grape Nuts would make an excellent topper for the shake BUT would not do well substituted for the nuts INSIDE the shake due to liquid absorption.  However, they work fantastically when used as a topping substitute for nuts, as well as for baking purposes.
