Healthy, Delicious Buckeyes!  A Treat for the Daily Diet

Looking for a special treat that's low in calories, high in energy, quick to prepare, and healthy? Try making these delicious Buckeyes. You won't even need to fire up that big oven!

These little Buckeyes are fantastic hunger-busters! They are loaded with fiber and protein, and are just plain good for you. Its strengths include protein, B vitamins, iron, zinc, potassium, folate, magnesium, niacin and dietary fiber. Though peanut butter is high in fat, its nutritional value is hard to beat.

To make the Buckeyes you'll need to grab a sealable sandwich bag. This will be your mixing bowl. You can use a real bowl if you prefer, but the bag will eliminate the messy clean up.

Place ½ cup of dry oatmeal into the bag with 1 teaspoon of any style of peanut butter. Next, add a few blue or pink packets of sweetener to meet your taste preference. Seal the bag and begin squishing it about until the mixture is moist and able to form a ball. If you experience difficulty mixing, you can add a few drops of water - or adjust your amount of peanut butter and oatmeal to the desired consistency.

Form tiny balls. You should get about half a dozen and the entire recipe contains approximately 200 calories. Enjoy with a tall glass of lowfat milk.

Another plus - children love making Buckeyes! But as a note, children under the age of five should not be allowed to eat spoonfuls of peanut butter as they could choke.
