Dip each slice of the bread into salted/peppered egg 'batter'. Cook both sides of bread using medium heat and non stick cooking until golden and crisp on each side. As your toast is cooking, place the cleaned, stemmed strawberries into the microwave in a microwaveable dish and cook on medium for 1 minute. Next, remove and place one piece of toast on a serving plate. This dish looks beautiful on blue dinnerware, by the way. Place SLIGHTLY FROZEN topping in a bowl and VERY GENTLY incorporate 1 Tablespoon of the strawberries OR 2 fresh sliced strawberries PLUS 1 - 2 packs of Splenda (or Equal). GENTLY spoon on top of the slice of toast. Next, place other piece of toast on top of the topping mixture. Reserve 1 Tablespoon of the topping. Add the remaining packet(s) of sweetener to the warm and juicy strawberries and stir slightly. Pour the mixture on top of the assembled toast. Next, spoon on the remaining 1 Tablespoon of topping. Dust with powdered sugar. Top with a whole fresh strawberry if desired. Enjoy immediately as French Toast isn't very tasty when cold due to the eggs. Not many people like cold eggs. For a few more calories and zero fat, you may add some sugar-free syrup. Log Cabin, Cary, and Smucker's all make a pretty good version. Be sure and warm your syrup before pouring on. You may also choose to double your whipped topping for just a few more calories. This dish is extremely filling and you may be able to forego your usual mid-morning snack. Well, there you have it - our Toast of Life to YOU! We hope that you enjoy! SOME NOTES: If you should beat or whip the topping it will completely disintegrate. Incorporating the strawberries must be GENTLY done. Also, be certain that you use slightly frozen topping or it will instantly melt - especially if your toast is hot off the grill. Be patient and allow the toast to cool a bit, but not entirely, before adding the topping to be on the safe side. Your strawberries should be warm and juicy BUT NOT all to pieces - so keep a close watch. This Recipe is copyrighted by Diet Bites.
