Blacksmith's Buns of Steel - Low Calorie, Low Fat Bread Recipes

Coyprighted by The Medieval Diet - Serves 16 generously for about 100 calories each

Choose biscuits that contain no more than 190 calories per biscuit.  Serve hot with a tall flagon of iced cold skimmed or 2% milk. Thy can use either regular or buttermilk based biscuits.

Ye Old Ingredients for Low Calorie, Low Fat Blacksmith Buns of Steel

1 Package of Large Flaky Biscuits, Reduced Fat
½ Cup of Mixed Dryed Fruits
1 Tablespoon of Ground Cinnamon
½ Cup of Chopped Pecans or Walnuts
½ Cup of Powdered Sugar
¼ Teaspoon of REAL Vanilla
¼ Cup of No Calorie Refrigerated Butter Spray

Preheat oven to 375 degrees & drag out thy biscuit baking pan.  Next, divide thy eight biscuits to make 16.

In a small bowl, mix ground cinnamon, nuts & dryed fruits.  Take thy 16 biscuits & roll into each into a ball.  Next, roll thru thy fruit mix, spice & nut mix.  Place onto baking pan & press to flatten.  Keep working with dough till thy hath filled thy baking pan.  Pour remaining fruit, spice & nut mix over dough.  Pop into thy oven till golden brown. Remove.  Drizzle with the powdered sugar that hath been mixed with the butter & vanilla.

For Orange Bun’s of Steel:  Mix 1 Tablespoon of finely ground orange peel, 1 teaspoon of orange juice.  Separate biscuits & place into pan. Drizzle with the orange mixture. Bake till golden & remove.  Drizzle with powdered sugar that hath been mixed with a teaspoon of orange juice & 1 teaspoon of finely grated orange peel.  Makes 16 servings for 90 calories each. Enjoy at least two for thy morning feast!
